Program Overview

Winter Camp is a new program based on an old idea from the 1980s here at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA. As always, our focus is on character development through the four core values of the YMCA - Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility. Our activities are fun, safe, and help our campers develop skills that they will keep for life. Most importantly, our programs allow kids to be kids - to do things children love to do.

The Winter Camp Program allows kids to reconnect mid way between summers, but it also allows them to get outside and be active for a week in the middle of winter. The skills learned include program skills - such as cross country skiing and ice skating, winter ecology/nature studies and winter survival skills - but they also include the more subtle skills also learned at summer camp - how to reason with cabin mates, how to lead peers, how to cooperate and communicate well, and how to respect one another. These are skills that are lifelong, and Becket-Chimney Corners is a great place to pick them up. Thousands of our alumni can attest to that!

What better place is there to spend February school vacation than up in the Berkshires with other kids your age? Winter Camp is a phenomenal experience!
