ICEP Vietnam

TSP-ProgramsICEPVietnam-2015-Vietnam.JPG

Our program hosts are based out of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). ICEP Vietnam will get to see a lot of the country: they’ll fly into HCMC and travel to the Mekong River Delta, do service with schools in Da Lat, visit the seaside city of Tuy Hoa and work with another school here, and end their program in Hanoi. Service will be well balanced between social and physical projects. The group will work in schools where they will play games with children and help to renovate the facilities and grounds. ICEP Vietnam has plenty of cultural experiences – highlights include city tours, Ha Long Bay, taking a Vietnamese language lesson, fishing for cat fish in the Mekong, and taking a cooking class. Due to government restrictions, ICEP Vietnam does not have traditional homestays. However, the group will visit with families in their homes on the program to see what day-to-day life is like.

Program Highlights

  • Explore both rural and metropolitan areas of Vietnam
  • Teach English to young children at elementary schools and orphanages
  • Help renovate a local elementary school
  • Take a boat tour through Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Special Considerations

  • Due to government restrictions, there are no overnight homestays on ICEP Vietnam. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with Vietnamese families during day trips and have a meal in a traditional Vietnamese home.
  • Malaria medication may be recommended from your doctor for this program.
  • It can be extremely hot and humid in Vietnam in the summer months.
  • Seafood dishes are frequently served, especially in coastal towns. Out of courtesy, please be prepared to sample everything that is offered.
  • A VISA is needed to travel to Vietnam. This requires that you have a passport as of March 1st , have access to your birth certificate, and complete a detailed visa application. The cost of your VISA is included in your tuition, and BCCYMCA will apply for the visa on your behalf.
