Brewster House Facelift
February 2006

Built in 1786, the Brewster House is the oldest building on our property. A Georgian-style Colonial house, the Brewster House was originally owned by the Brewster Family. It has been maintained by the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA since it was acquired in 1973. The Brewster House has received some touch-up repairs this winter, with the siding on the Northern and Western sides being completely redone. Similarly, the siding at the top on the Southern side has been completed, all the work done by local contractor John Goddard.

All work done on the Brewster House is an exact replication of the original design, nothing new has been added.

To date, the Brewster House has received foundation repairs (in 1996), a new roof (1997) and new windows and fixtures. This latest project, the siding repairs, has created a weather-tight building that will be with us for a very long time.

The siding looks a little different right now, but in the spring will be stained to match the rest of the siding on the 220 year old house.
