Chimney Corners Camp - Week 1
Second Session, 2006
It was a big week at Chimney for second session campers… As well as all the usual fun and games (including Superhero Day and a couple of Project Runway events), there was the much anticipated Gibson Games. The Games split the camp into four teams and set them running around camp in a relay, competing in contests like blind-folded donut eating, bubblegum pie and diving for rocks. The program staff ‘hosted’ – that is, voluntarily made fools of themselves – the first campfire, which was held the night before the Gibson Games and was a bit of a pep rally for the event. During the first week of session two the Annual Luncheon was also held, with about 200 people turning out at Chimney for some good food, to check out the new dining hall, and for a bit of a catch-up with Chimney folk. It being Chimney’s 75 th Anniversary, some important Alumni are coming out of the woodwork – the luncheon had Becket and Chimney campers and staff from as early as the 40s and 50s. |
