Camp Description: On 1,350 acres of forested woodlands in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts with a private 90 acre lake. Our Day Camp serves more than 600 individuals over the course of a summer. The larger operation includes two residential camps, Travel & Service Programs, a Year-Round Berkshire Outdoor Education Center, and of course, the Becket Day Camp. Traditional camp activities inclusing land sports, archery, arts & crafts, nature and swimming.

Qualifications:
Responsibilities:

Manage 9 weeks of YMCA Day Camp Programs, including campers aged 3-12, CITs aged 13-16 and 14 staff aged 17-25.

Plan, direct and supervise daily programs and activities.

Coordinate staff and schedules.
Further Responsibilities:

Define camp goals for the summer
-
Adapt and update staff training manual.
-
Give camp tours.
-
Plan and conduct pre-camp and in-service trainings
-
Ensure all pre-camp and on camp paperwork is in file and up-to-date.

Ensure all staff has up-to-date CRB and health checks handed in.
-
Ensure all staff are CPR and First Aid trained.
-
Develop routines, schedules and procedures for camp operation.

Assign staff responsibilities.

Maintain and review records and evaluations of all programs, operations, staff, and facilities.
-
Set and supervise office procedures, opening-and closing-day procedures for staff and campers.
-
Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well being among the camp family.

Liaise with food service for staff and campers needs.
-
Liaise with infirmary staff throughout the summer about campers and staff health.

Liaise with Service Corps Leaders and Chimney Leadership Team Leaders.

Know and enforce Emergency Action Protocol.

Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff.

Prepare an evaluation and summary of current season including inventories, staff evaluations, CIT evaluations and recommendations for following season.

Complete a detailed end of season report two weeks after end of camp.

These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
Salary Information:
-
Pre-summer (PT April, May) - $10 per hour.

Summer season - $4400 for 11 weeks.

Room and Board also included.

Pre-Summer work can be supplemented with other Berkshire Outdoor Center (OE) employment, up to 40 hours per week.
