After a week of gorgeous weather, the Dining Hall trusses are looking to be in great shape for the weekend. Just a few perlins to go, and they will be complete.

Truss Number 6 of 9 went up today. The weather is around 70 degrees. The drapes came off the fireplaces and the building looks just incredible.

The main truss in the center of the Dining Hall, weighing in at 8,200 lbs (3,719 Kg - equivalent to 3 Volkswagen Jettas or 1.5 Ford F-250s or 0.5 F/A-18 Hornets), is in place. The truss spans the entire width of the main Dining Hall, right down the center. Today, workers are completing its installation. In other parts of the Dining Hall - masons are nearly finished encasing the northern fireplace in beautiful stonework, workers are putting the cedar shingles on the entrance tower, and painters have begun painting inside the main office area.

The weather today is just perfect at around 60 degrees.

The main truss in the center of the Dining Hall was put in place today. And photos were taken of the Dining Hall site from atop the CCC Alpine Tower (see 3 above).

All kinds of work is going on down at the construction site this week. The trusses are going up at a rate of 1 or 2 per day (There will be 9 main trusses altogether). The cedar is still going up. Work is being done hooking up the sewer for the new buidling. Electricians are everywhere. Masons are putting in walls for the table and chair storage area. Masons are also still working on the gorgeous stone fireplaces. This building is looking nothing short of incredible.

West North-Westerly Winds at 17-20mph dropped the "feels like" temperature from an actual 17 degrees to 1 degree Fahrenheit periodically throughout the day today. But this didn't slow the 40-odd workers at the construction site down. Sure they weren't on the roof today, but here's some of the stuff they've done in the last few days: Installed the floor in the loading dock/storage area, installed the windows in the entrance tower. Prepared for the March 13th arrival of the main trusses, begun the interior framing of the camp store and the directors' offices.

Masons are working on each of the two fireplaces, as well as the interior walls for the kitchen, dish room, dry storage and refridgeration areas.

The trusses arrived this week, as did a huge crane to lift them into place. The siding is going on the outside of the offices section of the building. Cedar shingles are going on the outside of the climbing wall tower. Masons are continuing with the fireplaces. The are still more than 45 workers here every day during the week.

A lot of insulation is going in this week, and the main dining room trusses are due to arrive next week. It is mud season, but that has done little to prevent solid progress. Snowfalls later in the week will help to solidify that very soft mud around the building.
