Moms' Weekend
On the third weekend of each session, the moms of all the CCC campers are invited to spend the weekend at camp. Moms’ Weekend is one of the traditions at Chimney Corners Camp that sets it apart from other summer camps. While many camps invite parents to spend a day visiting the camp, few camps invite moms to completely join the camp program for a full weekend.
Families without a mom, can have an adult female mentor or family member join your camper for the weekend. Moms’ enter their daughter’s world, fully participating in the Chimney Corners program, singing camp songs, participating in activities and sleeping out in a tent. Moms get to feel like real campers and the girls get a chance to really share their camp experience.

For many, this weekend is noted as the highlight of the program, a shared experience between mother and daughter that is cherished for years to come. During Sunday of Moms’ Weekend, the rest of the family is invited to a family day at camp where each camper can show their family all that the camp program has to offer. |

Moms' Association
Purpose & Membership
The Moms’ Association, which includes all moms of current campers, helps the camp make improvements in programs and facilities and raises funds for camperships. During the summer the Moms’ Association sponsors a Moms’ Weekend each session so a mother or another adult female mentor or family member may spend the weekend with her camper in the camp setting. Reported to be a high point for many families, this weekend allows family members to get a taste of the camp experience.
Membership in the Moms’ Association is automatic for moms of all Chimney Corners Camp campers, Aides, staff and the Travel and Service Programs. There is no charge for membership and everyone is encouraged to participate. |
How to Help
We encourage moms to become active in the Moms’ Association in any way they can. Here are a few examples of how moms can help camp:
Volunteer Your Time: Many moms volunteer their time over Moms’ Weekend and at other times. Chimney Corners Camp can always use some extra hands! In the summer, come stay with us and share your talents with our campers and staff. In the spring and fall, come to our volunteer Work Weekends.
Program Development: An important part of program development is receiving feedback at all times during the year and especially during Moms’ Weekend. We strive to achieve a balance between instruction and recreation as well as group development and individual accomplishments. Parents with expertise in education, coaching, the Arts, leadership development, and parenting can volunteer their time and experience assisting in the development of curriculum, serving on guest panels during staff training, or serving as a resource for staff.
Marketing & Promotion: There is an on-going need to help share the Chimney Corners Camp story with new families. Hosting a home visit during the fall for prospective campers and their families, or sharing camp information with friends, is another popular way moms may get involved in the work of the Moms’ Association.
Financial Development: The Moms’ Association has pledge drives during Moms’ Weekends to support camperships, as well as programming and other needs over and above camp operations. In recent years, the Moms’ Association has provided funds for:
• Arts Center Renovations
• Canoes and Sailboats
• Waterslide
• Wood Shop
• Alpine Tower
• Tennis courts
• Darkroom & photo equipment
In addition to personal donations you may be able to identify sources of foundation support, corporate matching gifts and others. Donating goods or services for Moms’ Weekend raffles is another excellent way to give.
