Becket Day Camp

Becket Day Camp - the best day camp in the Berkshires - invites campers to attend our one week sessions, all summer long. Imagine spending your summer outdoors, canoeing on our beautiful ponds, swimming at our beach, climbing our climbing tower, fishing, catching frogs, making bracelets, performing in talent shows, slip-and-sliding the afternoons away!

We have fantastic programs for children and youth ranging from 3 to 17 years old, through one of our three fantastic programs:

Discovery Program
A half day program for children 3 years old through Pre-K

Explorer Program
A full day program for children finishing Kindergarten through 7th grade

Teen Program
A full day program for teens finishing 8th through 11th grades

Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program
A two week day program for teens finishing 10th through 11th grades

Philosophy

Becket Day Camp encourages children to grow socially, physically and intellectually. Our programs are 'camper-centered' and focus on the small group interactions that occur as a result of the program. These small groups work together with counselors & a LIT, and participate in fun Summer Day Camp activities that encourage them to grow together.

The emphasis at Becket Day Camp is on enjoying fun summer activities in a safe environment. It's not a competitive place, there are no trophies and prizes. It's just good old-fashioned summer fun for kids. There is a significant amount of skill development through organized activities, and obviously character development through playing together in small groups, but the focus is for the kids to have a great time.

Importantly, Becket Day Camp is about trying new things, and taking risks in trying something new in a safe and nurturing environment.

Camp makes kids resilient - being confident; being surrounded by friends; developing a sense of belonging; meeting new people; being physically active, mentally stimulated and emotionally safe; building a powerful self-identity; learning to compromise, negotiate and communicate.  Psychology Today article: Summer Camps Make Kids Resilient.
