
Chimney Corners Camp > Program > Specialty Programs
In addition to the traditional camp option, Chimney Corners Camp offers a variety of specialty programs. Qualified applicants fill all programs on a first-come, first serve basis. Many are extremely popular, often filling within days of the start of registration. Specialty Cabins may require the investment in additional equipment. Details will be included in the spring mailing.
Construction CabinFor campers who have finished the 8th or 9th grade, Construction Cabin poses a new challenge to older campers. Participants work toward building a new facility or renovating existing facilities throughout the camps. The program encompasses instruction in hand and power tool use, construction mathematics and basic carpentry skills. Construction campers spend a portion of most days on the construction project and the remainder of the day involved in the traditional camp program. Construction is a physically challenging program, please take this into consideration.
Adventure CabinGirls who have completed 8th or 9th grade are eligible to be part of the new Adventure Cabin. Campers will plan and participate in a variety of off-camp day and multi-day overnight trips throughout the New England area. Possible trip options will be whitewater rafting, biking, climbing, hiking and canoeing. While in camp,campers will participate in regular camp activities, plan trips and develop skills necessary for the off-camp trips. Campers will be asked to bring a bike and biking helmet to camp as well as other camping equipment.
Riding CabinGirls who have completed 5th, 6th or 7th grade are eligible for the Riding Cabin. They spend their mornings with the horses, helping with the stable work, learning about the horses, participating in riding lessons, and going on trail rides. The rest of the day is spent in regular camp activities.
Dance CabinFor campers finishing grades 6th to 9th interested in an intensive dance experience. The Dance Cabin will spend each morning learning different dance disciplines including ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop. Guest presenters and instructors will introduce dancers to new disciplines of dance. The group will also participate inclasses at Jacob's Pillow and attend workshops and dance performances in the Berkshire area. Dance cabins may be in any of the units depending on the age of the participants. Campers may be asked to bring ballet and jazz shoes. Unit will be determined by the ages of the campers who enroll.
